He is in fact, currently the third richest person in the world, knocking off Zara billionaire Amancio Ortega from the number three spot on the Forbes Billionaire list. As of the end of the trading day on Monday, Warren Buffett had a net worth of $54.9 billion. So, with his business responsibilities as chairman and chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., his philanthropic activities and seemingly endless business deals lately, one would think “the father of value investing” would never find the time to teach young people how to handle money. But he has. And not only that, he has found a way to immortalize the teaching of his financial strategies. Partnering with Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment and A Squared Entertainment, Warren Buffett has become his own animated star character, whose world-recognizable image and cautionary, sage voice of finance is now captured on the screen in a new animated series, Secret Millionaires Club Volume One, offering tips to kids on making investing an enjoyable activity. Kids will learn practical and valuable lessons about money management and can easily relate to the easy-going and fun, animated series.

The new series, Secret Millionaires Club Volume One, debuted on DVD March 19. The storyline is about four friends, Radley, Elena, Jones and Lisa. They find out that their school has lost its funding for music, field trips and some of their other favorite activities. So they need financial advice. Who else would they turn to for business and financial advice? They promptly turn to Warren Buffett, who lends his substantial financial acumen for their guidance. With Mr. Buffett as a business mentor, the kids learn to apply basic knowledge from the world of business to everyday adventures, and learn through hard work that in the end, the best investment they can make is in themselves.

Mr. Buffett was kind enough to take a few moments away from his hectic schedule and share some thoughts via email with me about teaching kids about investing. How do we approach teaching kids about smart money handling, investments and how can we make it fun in the process? Can you really make a game out of teaching kids about investing?
